Signs You Need Drain Cleaning Service

In today's fast-paced world, maintaining the efficiency of your home or business’s plumbing system is crucial. Neglect can lead to inconvenient and costly disruptions. Here at Zoom Drain®, we understand the importance of proactive maintenance, and we want to ensure that you recognize the signs that indicate a need for professional drain cleaning service. Timely intervention not only saves you from future hassles but also ensures the longevity of your plumbing system. Here are key indicators that your drains may require attention:

  • Slow Drainage: One of the most obvious signs that suggest a blockage within your pipes. If water pools longer than usual in your sink or bathtub, it’s time to consider professional cleaning.
  • Frequent Clogs: If you are experiencing clogs more often than not, even after attempting to clear them, this is a clear signal that a more serious blockage deep within your system needs to be addressed.
  • Unpleasant Odors: Foul smells emanating from your drains can be distressing. This is often a result of food particles, grease, or other substances decomposing in your pipes.
  • Gurgling Sounds: Unusual noises coming from your drains indicate trapped air, caused by blockage, and signify that cleaning is needed.
  • Overflowing Toilets: Regular backups or overflows can point to significant blockages that merit immediate professional attention.

Recognizing these signs early and seeking professional assistance can prevent more severe issues down the line. Zoom Drain® is here to offer a prompt, efficient, and reassuring solution to your drain cleaning needs. Our team of experts is equipped to restore your system’s functionality with minimal disruption to your daily life.

Our FAQs

  • To prevent clogs, avoid putting the following down your kitchen sink:

    • Grease, oil, or fat (FOG).
    • Coffee grounds.
    • Eggshells or food scraps.
    • Fibrous vegetables (like celery or corn husks).
    • Pasta, rice, or other starchy foods.
    • Regularly clean drains using a natural drain cleaner like baking soda and vinegar.
    • Install drain screens or traps to catch hair and debris.
    • Avoid flushing non-biodegradable items down the toilet.
    • Be mindful of what you pour down the kitchen sink (e.g., no grease or oils).
    • Have professional inspections performed periodically.
  • A cleanout is a pipe fitting that provides easy access for drain cleaning. If your plumbing system doesn't already have one, Zoom Drain can install a cleanout, which can save you time and money when clearing future blockages.

  • Sewer lining is a trenchless method of repairing damaged pipes by inserting a liner into the existing pipe. The liner hardens into a new pipe, sealing any cracks or leaks. It’s less invasive and often more cost-effective than traditional sewer replacement.

  • Signs that your sewer line may need repair or replacement include:

    • Persistent slow drains or backups.
    • Unpleasant odors coming from your drains.
    • Wet spots or patches of lush greenery in your yard (indicating leaks).
    • Gurgling sounds in your toilet or sinks. Zoom Drain provides comprehensive sewer repair, lining, and replacement services.
  • A malfunctioning sewage pump may show signs like:

    • Sewage backup or slow draining.
    • Foul odors or gurgling noises.
    • Inconsistent or no pump operation. Regular inspections and maintenance can prevent costly failures.
  • Signs of sump pump issues include:

    • Water pooling around the sump pump area.
    • Strange noises when the pump operates.
    • Pump not turning on or off properly.
    • Water not being pumped out effectively. Zoom Drain can inspect and provide repair or replacement services.
  • Jetting from the roof vent involves sending high-pressure water through your drain lines starting from the roof vent, which clears out blockages from the top of the pipes. This technique can reach clogs that are deep within the system, particularly for stubborn, hard-to-reach blockages.

  • Hydrojetting is a technique where high-pressure water is used to clean drains. It’s especially effective for removing grease, debris, and tree roots. This method is ideal for tougher clogs that can't be easily cleared with standard tools.

  • Zoom Drain uses advanced tools like:

    • Hydrojetting machines for powerful, high-pressure water cleaning.
    • Sewer cameras to inspect and locate blockages deep within your pipes.
    • Locators to precisely find and identify issues underground or behind walls.
    • Traditional augers for mechanical drain clearing when necessary.

“My toilet was clogged, then I noticed my tub was filling up so I tried plunging my toilet and dirty water came up through my tub. I plunged my tub and dirty water came up through my bathroom sink. I called a plumber who was referred to me from a friend. He snaked the toilet, took the toilet off and couldn’t fix it. The plumber referred a drain guy. He came out and snaked the toilet, took the toilet off, and snaked from the main at the sidewalk. He couldn’t clear the drain so he recommended calling Zoom. I called Zoom at noon and they said someone would be out between 12:30-4 pm. At 1 pm Zoom showed up. Pat used the water jet at the sidewalk and the camera and after about two hours he was able to get through the clog. He was very helpful with explaining what he was doing and what the next step would be if necessary. Thank you Zoom Drain & Pat! I would definitely use them again and will refer them to friends & family.”
