Meet The Owners Of Zoom Drain Connecticut
Backgrounds In Private Equity, Fulfilling A Goal Of Entrepreneurship
Zoom Drain of Connecticut is proudly owned and operated by Ken Binick and Leslie Tanca, a husband and wife team who both have extensive backgrounds in the private equity sector.
Binick attended the University of Pennsylvania for undergrad and earned his MBA at Vanderbilt University before starting his finance career in investment banking. Shortly thereafter, he transitioned to working in private equity, spending nearly 15 years with a firm before retiring. For Tanca, a native of Connecticut who was raised in Simsbury, a town outside of Hartford, she followed a similar track. Graduating from the University of Connecticut’s School of Business, she has spent the past 15 years in private equity, working for a number of well-respected firms.
With robust careers, the two sought out to fulfill a long-term goal to operate their own business and, when it came to determining where, they couldn’t think of a better spot than their backyard.
“I love that we live in a family-oriented area and the sense of community that creates,” Tanca admitted. “Connecticut is a beautiful place to grow up, to live and to work!”
“Many of our friends have kids and everyone is happy to help eachother out,” Binick added. “Being able to provide assistance to a neighbor, whether it’s with the kids or even through a professional service – I think that’s what fosters this type of environment.”
Every service call is an opportunity to help someone in their community, whether it’s a resident or a business – and that’s not something they take lightly! Providing expert care fast and changing what may be a bad day to a good day is what motivates the husband and wife – not to mention the potential to one day leave the business to their three children.
“Zoom Drain of Connecticut means a lot to us,” said Binick. “It marks the start of our journey as entrepreneurs, which is something we’ve talked about doing for a long time. Putting your blood, sweat and tears into your own business makes the successes that come even more rewarding. But it’s really about our customers and our community – we always want to provide the highest-quality service and become the trusted name in drain and sewers.”

A cleanout is a pipe fitting that provides easy access for drain cleaning. If your plumbing system doesn't already have one, Zoom Drain can install a cleanout, which can save you time and money when clearing future blockages.
-
Sewer lining is a trenchless method of repairing damaged pipes by inserting a liner into the existing pipe. The liner hardens into a new pipe, sealing any cracks or leaks. It’s less invasive and often more cost-effective than traditional sewer replacement.
-
Signs that your sewer line may need repair or replacement include:
- Persistent slow drains or backups.
- Unpleasant odors coming from your drains.
- Wet spots or patches of lush greenery in your yard (indicating leaks).
- Gurgling sounds in your toilet or sinks. Zoom Drain provides comprehensive sewer repair, lining, and replacement services.
-
A malfunctioning sewage pump may show signs like:
- Sewage backup or slow draining.
- Foul odors or gurgling noises.
- Inconsistent or no pump operation. Regular inspections and maintenance can prevent costly failures.
-
Signs of sump pump issues include:
- Water pooling around the sump pump area.
- Strange noises when the pump operates.
- Pump not turning on or off properly.
- Water not being pumped out effectively. Zoom Drain can inspect and provide repair or replacement services.
-
Jetting from the roof vent involves sending high-pressure water through your drain lines starting from the roof vent, which clears out blockages from the top of the pipes. This technique can reach clogs that are deep within the system, particularly for stubborn, hard-to-reach blockages.
-
Hydrojetting is a technique where high-pressure water is used to clean drains. It’s especially effective for removing grease, debris, and tree roots. This method is ideal for tougher clogs that can't be easily cleared with standard tools.
-
Zoom Drain uses advanced tools like:
- Hydrojetting machines for powerful, high-pressure water cleaning.
- Sewer cameras to inspect and locate blockages deep within your pipes.
- Locators to precisely find and identify issues underground or behind walls.
- Traditional augers for mechanical drain clearing when necessary.
